This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the “Platform”). It also explains your rights under the applicable laws of Pakistan, including the Constitution of Pakistan, the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA), and the principles of the pending Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using our Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms outlined herein.
We collect several types of information from and about users of our Platform, including:
A. Personal Data
This is information that identifies you as an individual. We may collect:
Registration Information: Full name, mobile number, email address, and a profile photo.
National Identification: To comply with local regulations and for verification purposes, we may collect your Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number . This is considered sensitive personal data under the proposed PDPB .
Payment Information: Credit/debit card details, mobile wallet information, or other payment instrument data. Please note that we use third-party payment gateways to process payments securely, and we do not store your full financial information on our servers .
B. Location Information
This is a critical part of our service. We collect precise and approximate location data from your mobile device when the app is running, including:
In the Foreground: When the app is open and in use.
In the Background: When the app is minimized or closed, we may collect location data to enable core functionalities such as tracking your ride, providing estimated times of arrival (ETAs), and updating trip status .
C. Usage and Technical Information
As you interact with our Platform, we automatically collect:
Device Information: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, and unique device identifiers .
Log Data: Access times, pages viewed, the frequency of use, and in-app actions.
Communication Data: Records of calls, chats, or messages made through the Platform between riders and captains/drivers .
D. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to enhance your experience, analyze trends, and remember your preferences. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect the functionality of the Platform .
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Provide and Manage Services: To create and manage your account, connect you with captains/drivers, process ride requests, calculate fares, and facilitate payments .
To Ensure Safety and Security: To verify your identity (including CNIC verification), monitor for fraudulent activity, detect unauthorized access, and ensure the safety of our users. This is a key requirement under PECA to prevent electronic crimes .
To Improve Our Platform: To understand user behavior, analyze usage trends, troubleshoot bugs, and enhance the functionality and user experience of our app and website .
To Communicate with You: To send you service-related notifications such as ride confirmations, OTPs (One-Time Passwords), receipts, and updates to our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. With your consent, we may also send you promotional messages about new features or offers; you can opt out of these at any time .
To Comply with Legal Obligations: To respond to requests from law enforcement or government authorities (such as the Federal Investigation Agency or Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) as required by PECA or other applicable laws, and to enforce our legal rights .
Under Pakistani law, particularly the principles of the Personal Data Protection Bill 2023, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
Consent: By using our Platform, you provide your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent to the collection and processing of your data as described in this policy . You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, as detailed in Section 7 below.
Performance of a Contract: Processing is necessary for the performance of our contract with you to provide ride-hailing and related services .
Legal Obligation: Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject, such as fraud prevention and cooperation with law enforcement agencies under PECA .
Vital Interests: Processing may be necessary to protect the vital interests of a data subject or another person, for instance, in an emergency situation .
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
Between Users: To facilitate a ride, we share necessary information between riders and captains/drivers. This includes your name, location, and mobile number, solely for the purpose of completing the trip and communicating directly with each other .
With Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party vendors to perform functions on our behalf. These include:
Payment processors for handling transactions.
Cloud storage providers for hosting data.
Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) for understanding app usage.
SMS and email service providers for communication.
These partners are contractually bound to protect your data and may only use it to provide services to us, in compliance with Pakistani law .
For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or a valid request from a government authority (such as the FIA or PTA), or if such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others .
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
We take the security of your personal data seriously. We implement a variety of administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction . These include:
Encryption: We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and HTTPS to encrypt data transmitted between your device and our servers .
Access Controls: Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel who require it to perform their job functions .
Secure Storage: Data is stored on secure servers with robust firewalls.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security .
We will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements . When your data is no longer required, we have procedures to securely destroy, delete, or anonymize it .
In line with the fundamental right to privacy enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan and the principles of the Personal Data Protection Bill 2023, you have the following rights regarding your personal data :
Right to Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you .
Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you .
Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You have the right to request that we delete your personal data when it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or if you withdraw your consent and there is no other legal ground for processing .
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your data, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal .
Right to Object to Processing: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes or where we are processing it based on our legitimate interests .
Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and to transmit that data to another controller .
How to Exercise Your Rights: To exercise any of these rights, please submit a request via email to info@kinpl.com . We will process your request in accordance with applicable laws, typically within 30 days . We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
If you wish to delete your account and personal data from our Platform, please follow this process :
Send a formal email from the email address associated with your KI Networks account to info@kinpl.com with the subject line “Request for Account Deletion”.
We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity to ensure the request is legitimate.
Upon successful verification, we will permanently remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 business days.
Please be aware that some data may be retained for a longer period in our backup systems or as required by law (e.g., for fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, or dispute resolution). Such data will be securely isolated and deleted in accordance with our data retention policies .
As a Pakistan-based service, our primary data servers are located in UAE. However, to the extent that your personal data is transferred to, stored, or processed in a country other than UAE, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with the requirements of Pakistani law. This includes ensuring the receiving jurisdiction has substantially similar data protection laws or obtaining your explicit consent . Please note that critical personal data (as defined by law) will only be processed on servers located within Pakistan .
Our Platform is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child, we will take steps to delete that information promptly .
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or the evolving data protection landscape in Pakistan. When we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. For significant changes, we may notify you more prominently, such as by sending you an email notification or displaying a notice within the app. Your continued use of the Platform after the revised policy has become effective indicates that you have read, understood, and agreed to the current version.
